Chile’s Government is Pointing Fingers – HW

After a terrifying bomb explosion a restaurant near an underground metro station Chile’s government quickly points their fingers at “terrorists”. Two people were seriously injured while the other six people, suffered from hearing lose. “This is an act that has all the hallmarks of a terrorist deed,” said Alvaro Elizalde, a cabinet minister and government spokesman. “There is no doubt. And it has been carried out with the intention of hurting innocent people.” But is Elizalde too quick to jump to conclusions? According to Joanna Magneti, who works in the shopping center, he may be right. “A young man was badly wounded, a lady had her hand wounded,” she said. We then have to reassure ourselves that hand injuries are fairly common when caused by an explosion. What if he was about to grab it to try to turn it off, or to throw it out of harms way? But, there’s more where that came from, over the years there has been numbers of explosives planted near police stations, banks, and other important buildings. Could this be the work of terrorists? Or has the government made a false judgment on the mystery Chile bombers?

Banana Disease in South America!

Bananas are one of South Americas most popular produce selections. By the 1960’s an outbreak of fungus grew throughout Panama soil, contaminating the bananas. The disease spread throughout the country via banana, killing many banana plants in its path. This caused bananas to be close to extinction resulting in the exporting industry in South America to collapse. This disease outbreak currently impacts farmers in South America as they race to find a banana species that is both resistant to the two diseases and commercially available.
